Mathlympics is an annual event held at Lake Sumter Community College and facilitated by LSCC Mathematics faculty members.  Lake and Sumter county high school teachers are invited to bring up to two four-member teams to participate in a team problem solving competition.

Schedule of events:

12 - 12:30 light refreshments.
12:30- 1:30 the competition.
1:30 the awards ceremony

Calculators will be allowed (Calculators up through TI-84 will be allowed during the competition. If you are planning to use a non-TI calculator, please present it to one of the judges for approval). There will be 35 – 40 questions. We will have awards for the top teams (not including the same school twice).

All questions are at the pre-calculus level. The rules are:
1. 4 people to a team – no substitutes.
2. They work the problems in any order they choose.
3. Once a problem is turned in, it cannot be retrieved and reworked.

Scoring is based on how quickly, compared to other teams, a team turns in a correct answer. Example: The first team to turn in problem #25 with the correct answer gets 20 points; the second team to answer that problem correctly gets 15 points; the third team gets 12 points, etc.
