What Steps Do I Need To Take?
Before registering for classes dual enrollment students must:
- Students must determine whether or not they meet the high school eligibility requirements for dual enrollment by contacting their high school guidance office. If home schooled, students should contact the Dual Enrollment Office at Lake-Sumter Community College and attend a mandatory information session.
- Once high school eligibility is determined, students must meet LSCCs eligibility requirement for dual enrollment by taking and place into all sections of the FCELPT (Florida College Entry Level Placement Test). Appropriate SAT or ACT scores may be used in place of the FCELPT, see the schedule for additional details.
- If eligible, submit a dual enrollment application for admission to the Lake-Sumter Community College Admissions/Records Office. Dual Enrollment students should apply well in advance of the term in which they plan to enroll but no later than a minimum of 48 hours before the day of registration. No fee required.
- All new students must attend a new dual enrollment student orientation.
- Students must meet with their high school counselor to obtain a signed registration/approval form. Students and high school counselor should discuss the courses needed for high school graduation.
- Students must see the Dual Enrollment advisor for course approval and to discuss college degree requirements.
- Students may then register for classes on LSCC Online Interactive Service: LOIS
- The signed Dual Enrollment registration/approval form must be submitted to the Dual Enrollment Advisor by the fee payment deadline. Failure to submit the form on time will result in the student being dropped from classes. Forms are available from high school guidance offices if enrolled in a public or private school or the Dual Enrollment Office at Lake-Sumter Community College if enrolled in a home school. A Dual Enrollment Hold will be placed on a students account once this form has been submitted. This hold will prevent the student from making any changes to their schedule online.
- Public high school dual enrollment students may obtain a textbook form from
the Dual Enrollment Advisor at the time that they submit their signed registration/approval form. The form enables them to obtain textbooks on loan. Home schooled and private school students must purchase their own textbooks.
- Dual enrollment students must resubmit a new signed registration/approval form to the Dual Enrollment Advisor to make changes to their schedule.
All requested changes must be submitted by the registration deadline in the schedule.
Public and private high school students interested in dual enrollment MUST contact their high school guidance counselor for information. Home school students interested in dual enrollment MUST contact the Dual Enrollment Manager at (352) 365-3569 for information.
