Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What do I need to do to graduate? Isn’t it automatic? A: Students who have completed 40 hours or more should meet with an academic advisor to determine what requirements must be met in order to graduate. The student may then complete an Application for Graduation. Q: Is there a fee or cost to graduate? A: There is a $30 graduation fee that pays for the cost of the diploma and cover. This fee must be paid by the dates listed on the Academic and Registration Calendar. Q: When can I apply for graduation? Is there a deadline? A: There is a deadline each semester to apply for graduation. Please check here: Academic Calendar for the next deadline date. The date is also published in the LSCC catalog and Student Handbook. Q: Is there a ceremony each term? A: LSCC has only one ceremony which takes place at the end of the spring term. Graduates and candidates who graduate during any term in the academic year (June through May) should consider participating. Q: Is there a limit to the number of family members and friends I can invite? Do they need to show an invitation to get in? A: Each graduate is given tickets to distribute to family and friends. Students may donate any unused tickets to the Admissions and Records Office. Q: Where do I go to purchase a cap and gown? A: The LSCC Bookstores located on each campus sells caps and gowns, graduation invitations, and other graduation related items. These items are usually available in late March. The cost is generally under $28 plus tax. Q: When will I receive my degree? A: The Registrar is the official authority responsible for certifying that all graduation requirements have been met. Degrees are printed and mailed approximately six to eight weeks after the end of the semester. It is the responsibility of the student to have a correct permanent address on file in the on-line system. Updates can be made at the Admissions and Records Office. |
