Student with AdvisorStrategies to Repair Your Grade Point Average (GPA)

Reasonable course load and time management, Remember you will spend 2 to 3 hours outside of class with homework, papers and research for each hour in class.  If you are taking a 12 to a 13 hour course load in class, you will spend 26 hours outside of class adding to almost 40 hours a week - making school equal to a full time job.  Remember, you must budget work, family and leisure time around coursework and class. And of course –ATTEND CLASS REGULARLY. 

Utilize the Learning Center, You have free access to English, math, and science tutoring.

Take Foundations of Student Success (SLS 1501), This course is designed for students making the transition to higher education.  Students will learn time management techniques, note taking skills, and also research career goals and academic programs.

Choose a career goal, degree program and create semester plans, choose a career goal (even tentatively) and utilize the career and academic advising resources to create semester plans toward completing a degree program

Health and Wellness, Creating time for leisure activities, sleep, healthy eating, and exercise through time management improves student success and instills a feeling a balance and well being in your daily life. 

Involvement in Student Life Activities, Joining clubs, campus organizations, and/or simply attending or participating in campus events will allow you to network with other students, faculty, and staff. Networking can generate a larger support system outside the immediate classroom.
