In the News... Lake-Sumter Community College To Purchase Land for Future Expansions LEESBURG, FL - On Wednesday, August 29, Lake-Sumter Community College will present a check to South Lake Hospital to purchase 23 acres of land between the two facilities, which will expand the South Lake Campus property to a total of 106 acres. To celebrate this Campus expansion, and to commemorate the growing partnership between LSCC and South Lake Hospital, there will be a formal check presentation that day at 10:30 am, at the new hospital, located in Clermont on S.R. 50. Four years ago, South Lake Hospital offered Lake-Sumter Community College the opportunity to purchase this 23 acres. To give the College time to raise the necessary funds, SLH offered to hold the land for up to five years, the first three with no interest. On Wednesday, LSCC will purchase the land at the original asking price...a generous gesture by SLH, considering the ever-increasing South Lake property values. The benefactor of this partnership is of course the South Lake community. LSCC's highly-respected nursing and other health sciences programs, along with the College's four-year degree programs offered under the direction of the University of Central Florida, will be an invaluable personnel resource to SLH and other area health care providers. In turn, the hands-on educational opportunities provided to LSCC students at the new state-of-art hospital will only enhance the professionalism of LSCC and UCF health sciences graduates. |
