In the News... Lake-Sumter Community College Students Recognized Leesburg, FL - Thirteen Lake-Sumter Community College students recently received state recognition, for their academic accomplishments, as well as their community and college service. Nominated by Lake-Sumter Community College faculty and staff, the following LSCC students have been selected for Whos Who in American Junior Colleges: Kenneth M. Beesting, Patricia A. Besch, William K. Collar, Rhea S. Mohammed, Clinton D. Montgomery, R. Shannon Terrell and Kevin B. Von Maxey. Whos Who is an honor bestowed upon college sophomores who have excelled academically and in student activities. They will be presented in the 2002 edition of Whos Who Among Students in America Junior Colleges, and recognized by LSCC's District Board of Trustees at its February 20th Board meeting. A GPA requirement of 3.25, an essay, community service and letters of recommendation earned six Lake-Sumter Community College students a place on the 2002 All-Florida Academic Team. The LSCC team, and those from other Florida community colleges, will be recognized at a special luncheon at FSU on March 7, and by the LSCC District Board of Trustees. The two members selected from each of LSCC's three campuses are: Leesburg Campus' Michelle Bales and Audrey Cotton, South Lake Campus' Autumn Egan and Michelle Newsome, and Sumter Campus' Cheryl Hart and Alina Sezanaeva. |
