In the News... Lake-Sumter Community College to Host Leesburg, FL - The public is invited to the dedication ceremony and tour of Lake-Sumter Community College's impressive new 67,000 sq. ft. South Lake Campus Phase II facility. The dedication will start at 4 pm, followed by site tours until 6 pm. Refreshments will be served. Perched atop one of Clermont's higher elevations, the $9.4 million building has been nick-named "The Castle on the Hill" due to its visible presence from miles around. Officially called the Higher Education Facility, this addition to the South Lake Campus will be a joint-use facility with the University of Central Florida. Students can not only earn 2-year degrees without leaving Lake County, but can now have another venue to continue on to certain four-year programs as well. South Lake Campus Administrator Bonnie Finsley Satterfield says though some LSCC courses will be offered in the new facility this summer, it will be in full operation for fall classes in August. She also adds that since the Campus first opened in the fall of 1999, its enrollment has more than doubled. The new Higher Education Facility triples classroom and lab space, and certainly validates the incredible success of the LSCC and South Lake community partnership.
