Leesburg, FL - In observation of Women's History Month, LSCC's Women's Program and the LSCC Equity and Cultural Awareness Committee will present "Three Pioneer Women of Florida", on March 28, at 2 pm, in the Leesburg Campus's Paul P. Williams Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women, Eustis Business & Professional Women, The League of Women Voters and Publix Super Market Charities, the program tells the stories of three prominent women activists who have left indelible marks upon our state's history. Based on archival material about Mary Barr Munroe (1852-1922), May Mann Jennings (1872-1963) and Rosie Weiss (1886-1974), the three-woman production uses storytelling, song, mime, period costumes and sets to bring to life the trials and tribulations these women overcame in shaping a society that did not even allow women to vote. Tickets are $10 each. The price includes a post-show reception to meet the actresses. Call 323-3603 for reservations, or you can purchase your tickets at the door. |
