Leesburg, FL - After a careful and thorough selection process, the Lake-Sumter District Board of Trustees has made its selection as to who will become the college's chief administrator, upon the retirement of its current President Dr. Robert Westrick. Dr. Charles R. Mojock, of Daytona Beach Community College, will become Lake-Sumter Community College's fifth president as of July 1, 2002. Upon graduating Summa cum Laude from St. Mary's Seminary and University, in Baltimore Maryland, Dr. Mojock spent four years as a teacher and Director of Guidance at Daytona Beach's Father Lopez High School. During this time, he earned his Master of Arts degree in guidance and counseling from Stetson University. In 1979, he began his career at Daytona Beach Community College as a counselor and faculty member, before gaining administrative experience as Director, and later Associate Vice President, of Human Resources. In 1990, he received his Doctor of Education from the University of Central Florida. After one year as DBCC's Vice President for Economic and Human Resource Development, he became the Vice President for Administration. Since 1998, he has served as the college's Senior Vice President for Planning and Institutional Advancement, the chief planning and fund raising officer for the DBCC. In addition to his progressive career as a colligate administrator, Dr. Mojock has continued to hone his teaching skills at DBCC and UCF, as well as being a guest lecturer at Stetson and Nova universities. He has published numerous articles in educational periodicals, and in 1999, rose to the state presidency of the Florida Association of Community Colleges, a 7000-member organization that represents community college personnel from the state's 28 schools. He and his wife Cathy have two sons in college and one son in middle school. |
