In the News... Lake-Sumter Community College's School of Nursing Ranks Second in the State Leesburg, FL - Among all Florida colleges and universities, Lake-Sumter Community College's 2001-2002 Nursing Class placed second in having the largest percentage of students pass the state's National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) on the first attempt. Ninety-four percent of the LSSC nursing school grads taking the exam successfully passed. After the students earn their Associate in Science degrees, they are required by the state to pass this exam before becoming a licensed registered nurse. This accomplishment follows the recent announcement that Lake-Sumter Community College's Associate in Arts degree students placed first, among all of the state's universities and colleges, in passing the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) on the first attempt. This exam is required before students can enroll in upper level college courses. |
