Lake-Sumter Community College's Associate in Arts Degree Prepares Students for Four-Year Programs LEESBURG - Registration for Lake-Sumter Community College's Summer Terms continues through May 5, and students now have the convenience of registering for the colleges varied academic programs online at www.lscc.cc.fl.us. Two of LSCC's three summer terms start May 6. Lake-Sumter Community College is extremely proud of its reputation for producing outstanding graduates. Its Associate in Arts degree provides the first two years toward a four-year degree, and guarantees acceptance into a state university, and LSCC graduates have consistently proven to be among the most successful in completing their four-year degrees. A unique two-year program, which guarantees acceptance into the University of Florida's College of Engineering (UFCoE), is LSCC's Pre-engineering Associate in Arts degree. This customized course of study allows students to take the first two years of UFCoE's required courses on LSCC campuses, then transfer into upper-level classes in Gainesville. This partnership not only has the benefit of lower community college tuition, but also allows students the opportunity to decide if engineering is a good career choice. Upon meeting the first two-year requirements, LSCC grads can continue on to earn UF Bachelor of Science degrees, with majors in aerospace engineering, agriculture and biological engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial and systems engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, and nuclear engineering sciences. New students, or those who have not taken a class in over a year, will need to apply in person at any of LSCC's campuses. Those needing assistance in registering can visit the campus Admissions offices, Mondays through Fridays, from 8 am until 4:30 pm.
