Lake-Sumter Community College To Offer Certified Nursing Assistant Course

Leesburg - Lake-Sumter Community College's Continuing Education office will offer a Certified Nursing Assistant course starting January 13 and continuing through February 19. Classes will meet on the Leesburg Campus, Mondays through Thursdays from 5:30 until 9:30 pm, and Saturdays from 8 am until 5 pm. Cost of the course is $345.

The curriculum includes classroom and practical training in such topics as: anatomy and physiology, age-related changes in the body, step-by-step procedures for care giving, nursing care guidelines, and vocational skills. Course work also includes CPR, AIDS education, basic computer training, and domestic violence education. Upon completing and passing the CNA course, students will be eligible to take the state certification exam. Students are required to submit results of a Tuberculosis (PPD) test prior to the first class. For registration information call 365-3556.
