New Students Can Register April 19 for Lake-Sumter Community College Summer Classes

LEESBURG - Current students may register at any time for Lake-Sumter Community College three summer terms, while new students will have that opportunity starting Monday, April 19. Two of LSCCs summer terms start on May 6th, the third on June 28, but students can now register online at www.lscc.edu for all three semesters. Classes fill up quickly, so the earlier you register, the better the class selection. New students, or those who have not taken a class in over a year, need to apply at least 48 hours prior to registering. They can do so at any of LSCCs three campuses Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 4:30 pm.

The three terms vary in length, so they provide the perfect opportunity for 2004 high school graduates to get a jump on their college career or for college students to earn some extra credit hours. Semester A, runs May 6 through June 24; Semester A Extended, May 6 through August 12; and Semester B, June 28 through August 12. There are even some one and two credit-hour mini-semesters.

Lake-Sumter Community College offers a variety of educational programs. The Associate in Arts degree provides the first two years toward a four-year degree and guarantees acceptance into a state university. This is a valuable benefit, considering the limits schools are putting on freshmen enrollments. Tuition is also much lower than that of state universities. Add to this the fact that LSCC has also earned a reputation for producing outstanding students. Each year, LSCC Associate in Arts degree graduates have among the highest GPAs of all students graduating from four-year universities, consistently placing in the top ten percent or higher. LSCC also has two-year Associate in Science and Applied Science degrees which offer career training in many popular fields, as do the certificate and diploma programs.

Now is the time to get A Great Education Close to Home. The Summer Schedule and registration instructions are available online. Staff-assisted registration is also available at the Leesburg, Clermont and Sumterville Admissions offices. For more information and assistance call 323-3665.
