Lake-Sumter Community College to Host High School Academic Tournament LEESBURG - Over 100 Lake and Sumter County high schools students will compete in Lake-Sumter Community Colleges annual Hi-Q competition this Friday, April 23. Academic teams from East Ridge, Eustis, Leesburg, Mount Dora, South Lake, Tavares, and Wildwood high schools and Montverde Academy will be competing in a round-robin tournament in the Everett A. Kelly Convocation Center Gym. The competition will run from 9 am until 12 noon, and then from 1 through 3 pm. Awards will be presented at 3:40 pm. This year, for the first time, a Junior Varsity Tournament will be held that will include teams from Montverde Academy and Eustis, Leesburg, Mount Dora and Wildwood high schools. Trophies will be given to the first, second and third place schools, with each winning team member receiving a medallion or certificate. The LSCC Brain Bowl team of: Krystal Bedard, Alex DePasquale, Delrose Tobie, Kathy Montaudo, Scott Williams, Tim Welton (captain), and Justin Womath will read the questions in humanities, social science, natural science and math disciplines, as well as serve as scorekeepers and judges.
