Lake-Sumter Community College Presents Women in Aeronautics and Space Program

LEESBURG - In observation of National Womens History Month, Lake-Sumter Community College will host a buffet luncheon and seminar called History of Women in Aeronautics and Space. The March 13th program features guest speaker Sue Gaines, Lead for the Kennedy Space Centers (KSC) Comprehensive Planning Office and 1994 recipient of the KSC Federal Woman of the Year Award. Hired by NASA in 1985 as a mechanical engineer, she worked on the Orbiter mechanical systems and spent six years coordinating environmental issues for KSCs shuttle activities and several other operations.

Registration for the Saturday program runs from 11 until 11:30 am, followed by a lunch buffet until 12:15 pm. The program starts at 12:15 and continues until 1 pm. Sponsored by Lake-Sumter Community Colleges Womens Program and the American Association of University Women, the event will be held in the Everett A. Kelly Convocation Centers Magnolia Room, on LSCCs Leesburg Campus. Cost for the lunch and seminar is $12 per person. Reservations need to be made by March 5, by calling 323-3603.
