Musicals, Shakespeare and Money...Just Some of the Topics Offered on Lake-Sumter Community Colleges South Lake Campus

LEESBURG - Explore the plot, settings and songs of some of your favorite musicals such as Oklahoma, Showboat, South Pacific and West Side Story during Lake-Sumter Community Colleges American Musical Theater class. One complete piece will presented through recordings, videos and live performances, then discussed in each class. The series starts on March 25 and continues each Thursday through April 29, from 4 until 5:30 pm. Cost is $43.

Shakespeare for Fun will take a look at one of the Williams comedies, tragedies and historical creations. Even if you have never like his work before, you will learn to appreciate why his words have been cherished for four hundred years. Hamlet, Richard III, and The Taming of the Shrew will be reviewed through contrasting film clips, helping to illustrate major ideas and spur discussions. No tests, no grades this time around...just lively, relaxed sharing of ideas about one of the worlds greatest writers. The course will run consecutive Tuesdays, starting March 23 and continue through May 11, from 2 until 4 pm. Cost is $69.

Women take great care of their homes and families, but they also need to do the same for their overall financial health and well being. Learn how to do just that from a registered investment advisor during Women and Money. The class will be held on Mondays, starting March 22 and continue through April 5. Time is 6-8 pm...perfect for working women, and the cost is only $24.

Cant remember where you put the car keys or the name of your new neighbor? You can Improve Your Memory during the one-day class to be held on Friday, March 26, from 10 am until 1 pm. Cost is $39. Dont forget to write down the date!

Have a computer and not sure how to use it? This hands-on course will correct that problem. Beginners Guide to Computers, Level 1 will cover the basics of Windows XP, as well as how to create files, save and print your work, and use the Internet. The course meets on Mondays, from March 29 through April 26, from 9 am until 12 noon. Cost is $63.

Understanding various religious beliefs can help one understand the behavior of persons and groups in our world. Worlds Religions, A Brief Introduction will acquaint students with the three monotheistic religions that developed in the Middle East, introduce concepts from the religious traditions of India and China, consider causes and definitions of religion, and briefly touch on religious fundamentalism in the world today. The three classes of this non-credit course will be offered on Thursdays, March 18 through April 1, from 3:00 pm until 5:30 pm. Cost is $45
