Lake-Sumter Community College Presents The Importance of Being Earnest LEESBURG - The Lake-Sumter Community College Theatre Arts Societys production of the Oscar Wilde comedy classic "The Importance of Being Earnest, will debut on March 24, and continue the 25, 26 and 27, at 7:30 pm. The play will be presented in the Paul P. Williams Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the Leesburg Campus. Admission for Lake and Sumter County students is $3.00. Adults are $6.00 and seniors are $5.00. LSCC students, faculty and staff are admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information call: (352) 323-3614. The play is set in London and Herefordshire, England, in the early 1900's and takes aim at courtship, marriage, responsibility, love, identity, hypocrisy, the roles of women, men, class, and even the French, says LSCC Theatre Instructor and play Director Gary Rogers. If this is as Wilde says, A trivial comedy for serious people, then surely, there is something for everyone in The Importance of Being Earnest." The play is appropriate for all ages, but some of the wit and satire could be lost on younger children. The fine student cast includes: John Clayton, David Puente, Sara Umsworth, Sarah Elkins, Faith Masonheimer, Nicole Shafar, Mary Jo Shoop, Cory Plouf, and Justin Vanden Heuvel. |
