In the News... Lake-Sumter Community College Ceremony Recognizes Academics and Service
Leadership through Service Awards recipients are nominated by faculty and staff for their roles as student leaders. Those earning this honor were: Chris Barnhart, Joel Hughes, Andy Davis, Michael LeBlanc, Jason Nimeth, Jessica Osborne, Michael Price, Ryan Shirley and Ashley Wilbanks.
Honors which were earn prior to the ceremony were also announced...Whos Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges: Samantha Bentley, Joel Hughes, Kara Kobylka, Jason Nimeth, Jessica Osborne, Scott Perry, Morgan Rickerson, Ryan Shirley, Tim Welton and Ashley Wilbanks. All-USA and All-Florida Academic Teams: Krystal Bedard (1st Team), Laura Brown, Angela Kerkvliet, Kara Kobylka (1st Team), Morgan Rickerson and Tim Welton. Athletic Honors: Softball catcher/utility Ashley Wilbanks was selected for the Florida Community College Activities Association (FCCAA) Mid-Florida All-Conferences second team. Lady Lakers teammates Brooke Zingales and Diana Eckert earned honorable mentions. Baseball center fielder Justin Justice was named to the FCCAA All-State second team and the All Suncoast Conferences first team. Andy Davis and Jimmy Rudolph were named to the Conferences second team. |
LEESBURG - On April 30th, Lake-Sumter Community Colleges Student Activities office hosted its annual Student Award Recognition ceremony to honor students not only for their academic achievements, but also for their leadership and service contributions. LSCC faculty nominated students who have excelled in their primary course of study for the Departmental Excellence Awards. The disciplines and students were: ARTS Theatre - Faith Masonheimer, ARTS Visual - Sandra Cook, Business - Kimberly Clemmer, Business Technology - Anne Gercken, Chemistry - Krystal Bedard and Tim Welton, Health Careers - Brenda Eusted, English - Sabre Smith, Math - Brent Stephens and Krystal Bedard, Nursing - Brenna Broadway and Social / Behavioral Science - Jason Nimeth.
Students recognized for their volunteerism and service to other students were: 2003-2004 Ambassadors: Samantha Bentley, Krystal Bedard, Brittany Bronson, Natalie Krussell, Jessica Osborne and Melinda Peterson. Diplomats: Linda Alonzo, Joel Hughes, Kara Kobylka, Jason Nimeth, Scott Perry, Sarah Unsworth, Andrea Voss and Jon Webster. Student Government Association: Leesburg Campus - President Jessica Osborne, Vice President Krystal Bedard, Secretary Jason Nimeth and Treasurer Samantha Bentley; Sumter Campus - President Morgan Rickerson and Secretary Brittany Bronson; South Lake Campus - Vice President R.C. Samples, Secretary Chelsea Nacauibe and Treasurer Sam Cooper. Student Publications: Student literary magazine Odyssey -Assistant Editors Scott Perry and Jack Stewart, Graphic Designer Sandra Cook and Editor Marilyn Aciego. Aciego was also the associate editor of the student newspaper The Angler. Mentors: Samantha Bentley, Lorrie Chappel, Robb Elmatti, Lynn Granger and Tim Welton.
