Lake-Sumter Community College Celebrates Diversity through Music and Dance

LEESBURG - Lake-Sumter Community College will present My Music, My World: Interview of an Artist!, performed by the Agape Grupo, Inc, on June 13, at 4 pm, in the Leesburg Campus Fine Arts Center Auditorium. This exciting musical production, written by Yadira Diaz, is a comedic look at the life of a fictional Hispanic artist who, during an interview, recalls the songs and dances of Peru, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Ecuador and Cuba. Under the direction of Luis A. and Yadira Diaz, the Agape Grupo performs for community and school audiences in order to promote a better understanding of the Hispanic and Latino cultures.

Another highlight of the Sunday afternoon performance will be a medley of Latin-influenced dances performed by the sensational duo of Krystal Bedard and Damian Martorana.

The ballroom dance team has performed and competed together for four years and won first place in LSCCs 2004 Talent Show. In addition to being a talented dancer, Bedard is a recent LSCC graduate and the recipient of the schools prestigious Presidents Award for scholarship, leadership and service.

Sponsored by LSCCs Equity and Diversity Committee, the performance is free and there will be a reception, along with door prizes, immediately following the show. For more information call 365-3557.
