In the News... The Power of Women will be Discussed during the Lake-Sumter Community College Seminar LEESBURG - Womens self-esteem has been reported at an all-time low. Eighty percent of American women are dissatisfied with their appearance. One-fifth of college women have an eating disorder. Over $30 billion a year is spent on diet products. Elective cosmetic procedures have increased nearly 300 percent since 1997. Lake-Sumter Community Colleges Womens Program will partner with the American Association of University Women of Lake and Sumter County to present a seminar that celebrates the power of women. This free program will be held on Wednesday, March 2 at 3 pm, in the LSCC Leesburg Campus Paul P. Williams Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Based on the message of the acclaimed book, I Am Beautiful: A Celebration of Women and the Lifetime movie of the same name, the seminar shares concrete tools for uncovering the beautiful inner-self and for building a more confident, solid base from which to explore ones unique purpose and value. The books co-author Woody Winfree will share her findings from years of researching the power of the mass media, and her exchanges with thousands of women who gave her unique perspectives on understanding modern self-esteem issues and the empowering result of self-acceptance.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet Woody Winfree during a Meet the Author reception and tea in LSCCs Magnolia Room following the seminar. For information call 352-323-3613. |
