In the News... Protecting Computer Systems against Cyber Threats will be Topic of Lake-Sumter Community College Program LEESBURG - Computer network administrators, business owners and law enforcement personnel are just some of the professionals who face the risk of cyber security every day. Lake-Sumter Community Colleges Computer Engineering Technology program and the City of Leesburg are co-sponsoring a informative and timely program titled Threats to Cyber Systems and Electronic Crimes Task Force Initiative. The free program will be held this Thursday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m., in the Leesburg Campus Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The general public is also invited to attend. For additional information call 352-323-3636. The programs featured speaker is James Glendinning, from the Department of Homeland Securitys Secret Service Division. He will explore the various threats to cyber systems including an introduction to critical infrastructure, then conclude with a presentation on the Secret Service's Electronic Crimes Task Force initiative. Glendinning is the Assistant Special Agent in
Charge of the United States Secret Service, Orlando Field Office, and has been
employed by the Secret Service since 1984. Previous investigative assignments
include the Washington D.C. and Detroit Field Offices, and the Raleigh and
Saginaw Resident Offices. He was assigned to the U.S. Secret Services Vice
Presidential Protective Division during the terms of office for both Vice
President Al Gore and Vice President Dick Cheney. Glendinning also participated
in protective assignments for every president since Ronald Reagan, as well as
foreign heads of state, former presidents, the Pope, and major presidential
candidates and nominees. Glendinning holds a degree in criminal justice from
the University of Maryland, where he graduated summa cum laude. He served with
the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division and the 19th SFGA. |
