Lake-Sumter Community College Students Earn Departmental Excellence and Service Awards
LEESBURG - On April 29th, Lake-Sumter Community Colleges Student Activities
office hosted its annual Student Award Recognition ceremony to honor students
not only for their academic achievements, but also for their leadership and
service contributions.
Nominated by LSCC faculty, a student who has excelled in his/her primary course
of study is recognized with a Departmental Excellence Award. Those
receiving this honor were: Justin VandeHeuvel, theater arts; Karen Howard,
business; Tina Andes, business technology; Leslie Crawford, chemistry; Anne
Gercken, first-year chemistry; Julie Maddox, health careers; Westah Downs;
English; Leslie Crawford, math; Alisha Bateman, nursing; and Federico Dixon,
physics.

Leadership through Service Awards recipients are nominated by faculty and
staff for their roles as student leaders. Those earning this honor were:
Danielle Beville, Brandon Carey, Betty Downey, Robert Elmatti II, Emily Eicholtz,
Anne Gercken, Alysha Johnson, Linda Karp, Nubia Martinez, Dawn McMahon, Kathy
Montaudo, Melinda Peterson, Diana Robinson, and RC Samples.
Student Activities Graduate Awards went to Joel Hughes and Melinda Peterson.
