Lake-Sumter Community College Volleyball Team Earns Honors

LEESBURG - Lake-Sumter Community College Lady Lakers volleyball team culminated its 2004 season by competing in the Florida Community College Activities Associations (FCCAA) state volleyball tourney for the fourth year in a row. The tourney was held November 4 though 6, at Brevard Community College Campus in Titusville. Though the ladies lost to nationally-ranked Miami-Dade Community College, the invitation to compete in the annual tournament is an honor in itself.

In addition to being FCCAA state tourney participants, seven Lady Lakers were selected for membership on the Florida Community College Athletics Association Mid-Florida Conference teams. Amber Moreno and Jessica Rupe achieved First Team status, while Nonye Chekwa earned Second Team honors. Stevi Krotzer, Kayla Lane, Tracy Morgan and Kira Valentine were honorable mentions.
