In the News... New Students Need to Apply Now for Lake-Sumter Community Colleges Spring Term LEESBURG - Its not too early to think about getting ready for Lake-Sumter Community Colleges spring classes, even though they dont start until January 5, 2005. Earlier online registration and increases in enrollment make it more important than ever to start the application process early, in order to get the class schedule you want. There are several steps that new students must complete prior to registering. Suggested priority dates have been assigned each step to help guide freshmen through the process. Students seeking Financial Aid through the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) program need to submit their completed files to LSCC's Financial Aid office by November 19 in order to receive funds prior to registering. The next step is to Apply in person at any of LSCCs three campuses by the suggested date of November 22. Students can apply later into the registration period, but required first-year classes are often the ones that are in the greatest demand. Next...many new students, or those who have transferred from other schools, may need to take Placement Tests. Suggested priority date for testing is December 6. Students then need to complete New Student Orientation and make an appointment with an Advisor, by December 9 and 13 respectively, to discuss LSCCs academic programs and strategies to help you succeed. By following these timelines, new students can enjoy a smooth start to their LSCC careers. Current students with 45 or more credit hours can start registering on November 15. Current students with less than 44 hours can start on November 22. Open registration for new students, or those who have not taken an LSCC class in over a year, begins November 29 and continues through January 4.
