LEESBURG - The Community Foundation of South Lake County generously awarded the Lake-Sumter Community College South Lake Campus science department a $8,163 grant for curriculum improvement projects. LSCC Instructor Dr. Debra Hicks, who initiated the proposal presented to the Foundation's Board of Directors, accepted the check from the Foundation's Interim Director Ronald Macfarlane on September 22. Dr. Hicks says the funds will provide the opportunity for LSCC to upgrade and add new equipment to its Clermont science labs. Hands-on tools and study aides such as organ models, computer software, incubators, and much more will go a long way in enhancing the college's academic programs.
