Register Now for Lake-Sumter Community
College's Early Childhood Education Program
LEESBURG - Dec. 6, 2005 - Online registration for Lake-Sumter Community
Colleges spring term continues through January 4, with classes starting January
5. One of several new academic programs being offered is Early Childhood
Education.
Pre-kindergarten teacher, childcare provider and development center director are
just some of the careers open to students completing one of LSCCs three Early
Childhood Education degrees. Students can choose either an Associate in Science
(A.S.) or Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, with a choice of two specializations
- Child Development Center Management and Preschool. The difference in the
specializations is the type of internship and support courses, while the general
education requirements and the core courses are basically the same. LSCC also
continues to offer its two-year Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree with an Emphasis
in Early Childhood Education that completes the first two years toward a
four-year ECE degree at a state university. During the application process, new
students will have the opportunity to speak with an LSCC advisor about these and
other degree and certificate options.
LSCCs three campuses will be closed from December 19 through 30; reopening on
January 2. Since new students need to apply in person, the process should be
started prior to 4 p.m., December 16. Students who have already applied can
continue to register online 24/7 through the two-week holiday break at:
www.lscc.edu. Call 787-3747 for information.
