Lake-Sumter Community College Offering a
Variety of Leesburg Campus Courses
LEESBURG - From art, to computers, to health topics...a wide choice of
non-credit classes will be offered through February on Lake-Sumter Community
Colleges Leesburg Campus. To register, call LSCC's Corporate and Community
Services office at 365-3556.
Aids Education, Friday, February 10, 12 noon-4 p.m.
This four-hr class will cover recent trends in medication management of patients
who are HIV+ and who are diagnosed with AIDS; the psychosocial impact of HIV and
AIDS; legal issues for the health care provider; and statistical information and
the tuberculosis relationship to AIDS. Cost is $25.
Pen & Ink with Oil Rouging, Fridays, February 10-February 24, 4:30-7:30
p.m.
Using a pattern, students learn the techniques of inking, using a technical pen
and then adding color to tint the piece. This process is very beginner-friendly
and is easily correctable at every phase. Cost of the class is $43, plus a $15
fee to the instructor for supplies.
Word, Level I, Wednesdays, February 15-22, 6-9 p.m.
Level 1 demonstrates the basic skills needed to use Word in the workplace.
Students will work with the Office Assistant, use basic document skills, edit
text, check spelling and grammar, and print Word documents. Cost is $75.
Peoples Medical School, Thursdays, February 16-March 30, 4-6 p.m.
These informative seminars are presented by physicians and medical professionals
offering insight into healthcare issues through question and answer sessions,
lectures, audiovisuals and handouts. Upon completion, nurses will be awarded 12
contact hours. Cost of the entire series is only $26.
Beginning Guide to Computers, Level 2, Thursdays, February 16-March 23,
1:30-4:30 p.m.
This course builds on the skills learned in Level 1 and continues to demonstrate
the many programs of Windows XP. Students learn to use My Computer and the
Recycle Bin, to manage files and folders, use Windows Explorer, format a
diskette, use the Control Panel to customize the desktop, and to send e-mails
with attachments. Cost is $75.
e-Bay Buying and Selling, Thursdays, February 16 & 23, 6-9 p.m.
Learn the basics of buying and selling items in this six-hour introductory
course! Cost is $36.
Avoiding Medication Errors, Friday, February 17, 12 noon-1 p.m.
This course will review the common areas and practices leading to medication
errors; different types of medication errors that are made; avoiding such
errors; and methods to ensure safe medication administration. Cost is $25.
