New Computer Information Technology Degree Offered this Fall at Lake-Sumter Community College
LEESBURG - Debuting this August 23, the start of Lake-Sumter Community College
fall term, will be a new Computer Information Administrator Associate in Science
(A.S.) degree. The development of this new program is a result of an extensive
two-year study into the skill preferences of information technology employers.
The study drew from nationwide data, as well as regional information collected
from area surveys and workshops held with Central Florida leaders within the
information technology industry.
The two-year degree is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety
of computer positions in business, industry and government. The program is
unique, however, in that it not only provides students with technical training
in the installation, configuration and maintenance of a wide range of
technologies, but also with foundational knowledge in business and interpersonal
skills necessary to be successful in the modern workplace, says Program Manager
and Instructor Leon Blue. Graduates will have a well-rounded education,
contributing to their future advancement in seeking a higher-level degree, such
as a UCF Bachelors degree in Information Systems Technology, as well as
positioning them for leadership roles within the information technology
industry.
New students can register online at www.lscc.edu, starting August 2, but do need
to start the application process at least 48 hours prior. Call 365-3574 for an
appointment with a counselor and visit the website to view the Fall Schedule and
find other important registration information.
