LAKE-SUMTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO BREAK GROUND FOR NEW SCIENCE
BUILDING
LEESBURG (June 20, 2006) - Lake-Sumter Community College will prepare
for the addition of another state-of-the-art facility to its Leesburg Campus,
when it holds a Ground Breaking Ceremony for its planned Science Building on
June 29, at 10:30 a.m. The new facility, located adjacent to the Health Sciences
Center, is due to open for fall classes in August 2007.
The Science Building will have twelve large labs for LSCCs science programs in
chemistry, biology, physics, microbiology, physical science, and anatomy and
physiology, as well as other science endeavors such as geology and environmental
science. Four smaller congregate labs will accommodate all the sub-specialty
areas that compose physics: mechanics, fluids, acoustics, thermodynamics,
optics, electricity and electronics, atomic and nuclear, and astronomy. All of
the labs have been designed to use computer acquisition and analysis of data
from experiments and laboratory activities, and have a complete range of video
projection equipment. The two-story facility also houses ten multi-functional
classrooms, faculty offices and conference rooms.
Special Ceremony guest will be David Armstrong, chancellor of the Florida
Community College System. The public is welcome to attend.
