Lake-Sumter Community College Inducts Student Leaders

LEESBURG- As the official representative of all students and student functions, the Lake-Sumter Community College Student Government Associations (SGA) purpose is to plan activities, hold student discussions, present suggestions to the faculty and administration, and to act in an advisory capacity to other students. Four officers are appointed to represent each of LSCCs three campuses for a one-year term. Students apply during spring term and must be enrolled in six credit hours and have a 2.0 or higher grade point average. 2005-2006 officers inducted during SGA's September 9th ceremony were:

SGAs current project is called Students for Soldiers. The group is collecting needed items to send to American soldiers overseas. The students have also initiated a letter-writing campaign, so soldiers with no family-ties can receive notes of appreciation. Items and unsealed letters, addressed to Dear Soldier, can be dropped off at any LSCC campus now through October 24. Some of the items requested are: batteries, pre-paid calling cards, CDs, DVDs, books, magazines, stationery, games, hard candy, drink mixes and personal hygiene products.
