Alexander M. Perez, Ed.D.

Dr. Perez supports the Lake-Sumter Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) as the Program Manager of Developmental Studies. He oversees the successful implementation of the QEP and reports program outcomes to the College accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools-Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC).
As a full-time faculty member in the English Department, Dr. Perez also teaches hybrid and fully online composition and literature courses based out of the South Lake Center. Dr. Perez has been a Florida Department of Education certified professional educator since 1993, having taught high school English in Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, and Monroe County Public Schools. He has also taught English at Miami-Dade College, Florida Keys Community College, and The University of Phoenix Online Campus.
His work has been nationally recognized with an Excellence in Teaching Award by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD), Exemplary Use of Technology in the Classroom Award by the Association of Florida Colleges, and he has been nominated Professor of the Year by his Lake-Sumter peers.
Dr. Perez has a terminal degree in educational leadership, with a specialization in curriculum and instruction from The University of Phoenix. His doctoral research was a narrative inquiry on the enhancement of the first-year teacher experience through a Florida Educator Preparation Institute. Dr. Perez completed his bachelor's degree in English at The University of Vermont, and his master’s degree in Arts and Humanities English at Teachers College Columbia University.
