Both of these reading courses are designed to improve an individual's reading skills, both in comprehension and in the understanding of new vocabulary words.
Topics to be studied are main idea with supporting details, vocabulary in context, inferencing and drawing conclusions, distinguishing between fact and opinion, understanding author's purpose and tone, identifying the organizational pattern of a paragraph through understanding transitions, detecting bias, recognizing valid argument, and other strategies to help with the understanding of the written text.
