- LSCC students scored the highest in the CLAST test among Florida's 28 community colleges.
- LSCC students who transfer to Florida's state universities have one of the highest grade point averages (3.12) among community college students. LSCC nursing students also have a history of being in the highest percentile for passing the State Board Exam the first time.
- Community colleges are locally controlled and are responsive to the community and its business and industrial needs. LSCC brings together citizens from all backgrounds and circumstances, providing them with education, training and services for a brighter and richer future. Students range in age from 15 to 80, with the average age of 29.
- LSCC offers 2+2 programs with the University of Central Florida, St. Leo University, and Troy State University which allow students to complete a four-year bachelor's degree in nursing, elementary education, criminal justice and business management.
- LSCC Associate in Arts graduates are guaranteed acceptance into Florida universitiesmany of which have limited their freshman enrollment.
- Students may earn a two-year Associate in Science Degree and complete certification programs in many career fields such as: business, computer science, criminal justice, medical services, fire science, legal assisting, hospitality management and graphic design.
- Continuing Education programs serve more than 3,000 annually. They include non-credit courses which target specific vocational careers such as computer training, as well as courses which encourage lifelong learning.
- Business owners can offer their employees training through Continuing Education's Professional Development Program. Instructors will customize courses for companies to meet specific needs.
- LSCC offers smaller class sizes compared to lower division classes at universitiescreating a lower student-instructor ratio.
- LSCC has lower course fees and other expenses when compared to most four-year institutions.

- LSCC offers women's volleyball, men's baseball, and women's fast-pitch softball.
- The LSCC Performing Arts Series consists of six professional stage performances throughout the year. Music, dance and drama are all chosen to bring quality entertainment to the Lake and Sumter County areas.
- The LSCC Theater Department will present five student productions in the 2002-2003 season. The community is invited to enjoy these contemporary plays to be performed in the Paul P. Williams Auditorium. Elementary school students also have the opportunity to experience live theater during the department's Black Box Theater children's productions.
- The community can view the talents of local artists throughout the year in the Leesburg Campus' gallery in the Everett Kelly Convocation Center. Shows are presented by Lake and Sumter County art leagues, as well as individuals and students.
