SUMMER 2008 – Credit by Exam May 1, 2008Students who want to take a course that satisfies the college’s Computer Proficiency requirements can take one of the courses below that are marked with* after the course #. Please see page 78 of the 2007-08 catalog for requirements. Students who want to take the exemption exam for computer proficiency instead should refer to the information below the table entitled “Computer Proficiency Exam.” Please note that as of January 2008, Office Suite proficiency will be demonstrated using Office 2007 instead of Office 2003. The following courses may be exempted by testing. Fees for Credit by Exam are $25 per credit hour. Students who pass will receive credit for the course with a grade of “P.” Students who fail the test will forfeit the exam fee and receive no credit for the course. Students must complete a Request for Credit by Exam form and return it to the Learning Center Office by Thursday April 24, 2008, 4 pm. SUMMER 2008 – Computer Proficiency Exam May 1, 2008Students planning to graduate from LSCC must demonstrate the basic use of computers through the successful completion of designated courses, by earning passing scores on associated Credit by Exam for those designated courses, or by a passing score on the proficiency exam. Students should see an advisor for details. To register for the Computer Proficiency Exam, contact the Admissions Office on the Leesburg Campus by Thursday, April 24, 2008, 4 pm. The exam will be given on May 1, 2008 on the Leesburg Campus. There is no fee for the computer proficiency exam. Contact the Learning Center 365-3554 for information about place and time for this exam. All degree seeking students at Lake-Sumter Community College must demonstrate computer proficiency in order to be granted the Associate in Applied Science, the Associate in Science, or the Associate in Arts degree.
