Minimum Student Effort Required for an Expectation of Academic Success
Lake-Sumter Community College has determined that, while the college has a responsibility to its students, students have a MAJOR responsibility for their own educational success. The minimum effort students must put forth to meet this responsibility includes the following:
Go to class!
Be on time!
- Be in class on time and stay for the duration.
Study!
- Study an average of two to three hours for every hour in classevery week.
- Allow additional time to study for tests.
Be attentive!
- Take clear and understandable notes in every class and review them daily.
- Ask questions to clarify understanding.
Be prepared!
- Do all assignments (graded
and un-graded) completely and on time.
- Compare classroom notes with text readings and notes.
- Practice! Practice! Practice!
Be respectful!
- Respect your instructor.
- Respect your fellow students.
- Respect yourself.
Take advantage of instructors office hours!
- Dont wait! Go to the instructors office at the first indication of troublethe first failed test or quiz.
- Avoid generalitiesbe prepared to ask for help with specific questions.
Use additional resources!
- Use the Learning Center.
- Use the Library.
- Create study groups.
- See a counselor or advisor.
