A native of Vero Beach, FL, I have always wanted to be a librarian, since reading and learning about new ideas, people and places has always been my passion. The idea of having access to all the information in the world, in print and now in electronic form, makes it possible to learn something new every day!

A fascination with the history of the English language led to a Bachelor's degree in English and a desire to make a career as an academic librarian led to library school at Emory University. A highlight of of the library program at Emory was the opportunity to attend the International Graduate Summer School at the College of Librarianship in Aberystwyth, Wales.

Prior to signing on at LSCC, I was librarian at Palm Beach Atlantic College in Palm Beach, FL. I came to Lake County in 1982 to escape south Florida development. My husband is a high school English teacher and I have two wonderful stepdaughters and two grandsons.

I enjoy gardening with herbs, a few vegetables, and lots of native plants. I also love dance, especially classical ballet and modern dance, and have enjoyed watching the Orlando Ballet mature over the years. I enjoy cross stitching and needlepoint, and love working historical needlework designs, including renaissance blackwork and Arts & Crafts patterns inspired by William Morris, William de Morgan and Henry Dearle. Another interest is Tibetan Buddhism, through my involvement in a local Buddhist study group, The Chenrezig Project.
