Site Purpose and Disclaimer
Purpose
The Lake-Sumter Community College Libraries Web Site functions as
an extension of the LSCC campus libraries. The purpose of this site
is to:
- Serve as an information tool, providing information about LSCC
library facilities, services, library policies and procedures, and
contact information for library staff.
- Serve as a reference tool, providing access to Internet-based
reference resources and databases.
- Serve as a research tool, providing links to search tools,
LINCC (the Florida community college library network), other
library catalogs, and a directory of Web sites selected by LSCC
faculty and librarians to support the LSCC curriculum.
- Serve as an instructional tool, by providing resources to
support information literacy instruction, including information
literacy tutorials, instructional handouts on library research
topics, information and course materials for library science credit
courses at LSCC, and links to other research sites, courses, and
tutorials.Smarthinking
- Serve as an assessment tool for online library resources and
services and for online information literacy instruction by
providing evaluation forms and communication links for the purpose
of soliciting feedback and suggestions.
Disclaimer
The Lake-Sumter Community College libraries' web site contains
links to official college resources, resources provided by the
state of Florida for higher education students, as well as to
outside resources. Links are limited to those that meet the LSCC
libraries' Mission and goals. Criteria
for link selection are outlined in the libraries' Collection Development Policy. The LSCC
libraries cannot and do not monitor statewide or outside resources
nor maintain any control over them. The LSCC libraries assume no
responsibility for materials contained within resources or links
thereto.
Links to other resources do not constitute endorsement of
products, services, or ideas described or appearing in those
resources. Any requests for information, correspondence, or claims
relating to other resources should be directed to their respective
