Computer Labs
There are three open computer labs to serve students, faculty, staff, and community residents. Open labs are available at all LSCC campus libraries, see
campus for schedule.
Open labs provide:
- Support personnel for assistance with basic hardware and software questions
- Windows XP, Windows Vista
- Microsoft Office
- Course-related software
- High-speed Internet access
- Black and white Laser Printing at 10 cents per page, color printing at Leesburg only at 40 cents per page
- Floppy drives, CD-ROM drives, USB ports
- Scanners
- iMacs available at Leesburg campus
- Laptop computers available at Leesburg library for in-house checkout
Leesburg Campus
The Leesburg Campus Open Computer lab is located in the Library and may be used any time the Library is open. The lab provides 36 desktop computers using Windows XP with Microsoft Office. One Vista computer, two iMacs and one PowerMac are available. Additionally, there are both math lab and English lab computers
in the Learning Center, with the benefit of math and English tutors available
to assist with solutions and editing of work. The dedicated science lab
computers are also in the Learning Center. A scanner and an Optelec machine
for reading assistance are located in the Learning Center.
South Lake Campus
Building 2, Room 347 is used as a computer lab whenever classes are not in session and when a lab assistant is available. Room 347 has 24 Pentium IV computers with zip, floppy, and CD-ROM drives and Internet access. Hours for the labs are posted on the doors, or call (352) 243-5722 for information about lab availability. Additionally, there are both math lab and English lab computers in the Learning Center in Building 1, with the benefit of math and English tutors available to assist with solutions and editing of work, and there are computers in the Library. Science computers are in the Library and English lab.
Sumter Campus
All of the PCs in the Sumter Campus Library provide open lab capability. There is a Computer Lab assistant on duty in the library for 20 hours each week. Library staff are also available to assist students with their computer use exercises.
Acceptable Use of LSCC Information Systems (IS) Resources
According to the
Information Systems Resources policy, resources are expected to be used in a responsible, efficient, ethical, and legal manner in accordance with the mission of LSCC. Access to offensive or inappropriate materials is not permitted.
