I began working for LSCC in October 1996 while a student at the Sumter Campus in Sumterville, FL. I worked as a work-study student in the library there when it was still located in a closet (it has grown quite a lot since then). In September 1997, I was hired for a permanent position at the Leesburg Campus library as a part-time Library Assistant. As of August 1999, my position went from being part-time to full-time. In December 2000, I was upgraded again, this time to Library Technician.
I graduated with my AA degree in 2004. My educational plans have not changed, yet I still need to settle on an institution for my bachelor's degree.
I have several interests outside of work. I am an avid reader, mostly of epic fantasies, comic books, alternate histories in fantasy or horror settings (AKA Urban Fantasy), severely technical books on time travel, nanotechnology, quantum physics and robotics. If you know a good book on Artificial Intelligence that is fact based, or if you have a particular book you would like to share, just let me know. I am always looking for new things to read!
A new interest of mine is Second Life (SL). SL is a virtual reality engine where you can create an avatar and do several things from visiting clubs, attending live music events, shop and so forth. My favorite thing about Second Life is the educational aspect. Many universities, libraries and museums have places in SL where you can visit and learn interesting things. For more information, visit the Second Life website or the Second Life Education Wiki that are listed in my Favorite Websites.
