Student Government Association

Student CenterThe LSCC Student Government Association (SGA) represents the entire student body. Its purpose is to plan student activities, hold discussions, present student suggestions to the faculty and administration, and act in an advisory capacity to students at Lake-Sumter Community College.

SGA has officer representatives at each of its campuses in Leesburg, Sumter, and South Lake who host weekly meetings open to all students and address areas of concern and plan upcoming events. On a monthly basis all three campuses meet to discuss college-wide issues.

LSCC is also involved with the Florida Junior/Community Colleges Student Government Associations (FJCCSGA). Each semester officers attend district & statewide meetings with other college students to debate current legislative trends and make recommendations. These meetings also provide a forum for leadership training.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
There are many ways to be an active part of LSCC SGA.  You can start by attending one of the weekly Student Government Association meetings on your campus or participating in SGA-sponsored events.  For those wanting a more active role there is the opportunity to serve as a Student Group/Club Representative or Officer.  Officers receive leadership training and stipends for their service.  Contact the SGA Office on your campus for more details.
