How do I register for classes?

LSCC registration process is completed online.  Go to our website at www.lscc.edu and click on LOIS (Lake-Sumter Online Interactive System).  Your user ID is your Student ID number that begins with an X.  The very first time you login the PIN number it your 6 digit birth date.  As soon as you log in the system will require you to change your pin number.  Note:  Whatever you change it to will be your pin number from here on out.  Please read the directions carefully, to insure a smooth registration process.

What is the difference between Current, Early, Open, Late, and Add-Drop registration?

  • Current Student Registration: Students enrolled in the previous semester will be eligible for registration before all new students. There are two weeks designated for all currently enrolled students. The two weeks are broken down by credit hours.
      The first week of currently enrolled student registration is for students who have 45+ hours.
      The second week of currently enrolled student registration is for students who have less than 45 hours.
  • Open Registration: All new students or returning students who were not enrolled in the previous semester may register during open registration.
  • Late Registration: Students may register during the late registration period. All applicable state waivers may be submitted for payment during this time.
  • Add/Drop: Students may adjust their schedule during the add/drop period. No adjustments will be made after the scheduled add/drop period. Once this time has passed, any student needing to drop a course can only withdrawal at this point. There is no money back for withdrawing from a course(s).

How can I get a copy of the catalog/schedule?

The catalog and schedule are both available online at www.lscc.edu.

How can I see a academic advisor?

  • All first time in college students (FTIC) will meet with an academic advisor during new student orientation.  All other students or students wishing to speak with an academic advisor each semester (which is highly recommended), please call for an appointment.

What degrees/certificates are offered at LSCC?

For a list of the programs and associate degrees offered at LSCC, please see the Degrees/Programs portion of our website or download the college catalog.  The degrees and programs section contains information about various programs offered.   The graduation and Discipline Degree Requirements contains the graduation requirements for Association of Art, Association of Science, Association of Applied Science degrees.

Will I have to take any tests?

Pursuant to Florida Statute (f.s.) 240.117 students who intend to enter a degree program at any public community college and non-degree seeking students who plan to take a general education course (English, math, humanities, social science or science) MUST take the Computerized Placement Test (CPT) for the purpose of assessing basic computation and communication skills prior to registering for class.
The following students are exempt from taking the CPT to determine college readiness:

  1.  Students who present scores on either the College Board’s SAT-1 or American College Testing Program’s Enhanced ACT that meets or exceeds the State’s mandated minimum.
  2. Transfer students who have completed a college level English or Math course with a "C" or higher.

Students must obtain a Placement Referral Form from the admissions office prior to reporting for testing.
The computerized placement test is given at all three campuses by appointment only. Click on the link below for information about scheduling an appointment.  A picture ID and Placement Test Referral form must be present at the time of testing.

What is Orientation?

Orientation is mandatory for all degree seeking, first time in college students.  Its purpose is to provide important information that will help students make the transition to LSCC.  Students who do not attend orientation will not be allowed to register.

I have a scholarship...do I go to Financial Aid or the Foundation office?

Financial Aid handles the following scholarships:
  • Academic
  • Financial
  • Florida Academic
  • Florida Merrit
  • Florida Prepaid
  • Gold Seal
  • Minority
  • Presidential (2nd Year - 1st Year is Foundation)
If yours is not listed, go to the Foundation office.

What are the hours of the cashier's office, financial aid, and bookstore during registration?

Where are parking decals issued?

Parking decals are required for all motor vehicles parked on campus. These are issued through security or the receptionist desk located in the Student Services Building. Persons who violate college parking regulations are subject to ticketing and fines.

What is the cost per semester hour for a class?

Florida Residents: $85.20
Out-Of State Residents: $320.90

Do the fees have to be paid when I register?

Payment may be made online through LOIS or in person at the cashier's office..

How much do books cost and where can I buy them?

NEW FEATURE IN LOIS! FIND OUT WHAT BOOKS YOU NEED FOR YOUR CLASSES IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU REGISTER! Just go to your detailed schedule and click on “ORDER BOOKS” at the bottom of the screen. From here, you can pay for your books and select whether to pick them up at the bookstore or have them delivered to your home! Only students using credit cards may use this new feature. Dual Enrollment students or students with third party billing or bookstore authorizations from Financial Aid will not be able to use this service as of now.
