LSCC StudentDiplomats

Campus Diplomats are student leaders who provide a significant service to Lake-Sumter Community College. All students are selected based on their excellent communication skills, personal qualities, and leadership potential. The Campus Diplomat program provides opportunities for student leadership development through service to LSCC. Campus Diplomats are sponsored by the Student Life Office and are dedicated to orienting new students to the college.

Qualifications
Campus Diplomats must be currently enrolled as students at Lake-Sumter Community College and maintain a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.0 or higher.   Diplomats must also have completed 6 college credits and maintain a minimum of 6 credit hours enrollment.  Diplomats must be students in good standing as defined by the Lake-Sumter Community College catalog.

All Diplomats must complete an application, submit two letters of recommendation, and complete an appointment interview.  A committee will select the best-qualified applicants from the pool.  As a Diplomat, you will then serve the entire year pending completion of the required duties and a satisfactory student evaluation as determined by the Student Life Office.   Once a student has been selected for the Campus Diplomat program they may continue in the program as long as he or she meets the academic and performance standards

Service Hours
Each semester Campus Diplomats are required to serve a minimum of 70 hours.  Service hours are acquired by assisting orientation, doing special projects, or working special events.  Diplomats participate in at least one on-campus and one off-campus community service project each semester. Our goal is to provide service throughout the year as part of a team of caring, community-conscious student leaders.  Diplomats receive a $600 scholarship per semester for their involvement in the program.
