Tech Prep Program
Did you complete a Tech Prep/Career-Technical Program in High School? Earning free college credit may be within your reach!
What is Tech Prep?
Tech Prep programs prepare students for technically demanding jobs while they are still attending high school. Articulation agreements have been developed between Lake-Sumter Community College and Marion, Lake, and Sumter County High Schools to help students move seamlessly from high school to college without repeating certain courses. After taking a designated series of technical courses at their high schools, Tech Prep students may be eligible to take assessments. College credit is earned based on passing these assessments.
For example, if you complete the Allied Health Assisting Program, you may be eligible to take the assessments for Introduction to Healthcare, Medical Terminology, & Word Processing for College Writing. You can earn four college credits by passing the assessments. The assessments are free and available to you if you completed a Tech Prep Program.
What do I need to do?
After enrolling at LSCC, the next step for you to take to earn your credit is to contact the Tech Prep Program Manager in SS228 in the Student Services Building on the Leesburg Campus or call 352-323-3612. Our hours are 8:00 am 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Please have a copy of your Tech Prep Certificate with you when you come in. See you soon
